--- A PERSONAL LOOK AT THE ARTIST ---
“Creativity takes courage. Don’t be afraid to make art. Just Do It.”-Henri Matisse
It wasn’t until the Covid 19 pandemic that Vickie Glassman began to take her art seriously. She remained quarantined for the month of May 2020. That’s when she stocked and arranged her home studio in Van Buren, Missouri. Vickie’s art is inspired by the environmental surroundings she refers to as a paradise of oak and pine tree ladened hills, creeks, and the naturally spring fed Current River.
Vickie’s eclectic choice of music is always filling the airwaves of her studio. Music becomes the muse that guides her vision of what will be painted on the canvas. Before she begins a new painting, she will stand and stare at the canvas on the easel and listen to the music until ideas begin to materialize. Like pieces of a puzzle beginning to find their place, she envisions those ideas, the arrangement, colors, and design on the canvas. Vickie lovingly paints using her hands to guide the paint in unison with the music. Her hands are her tools. The music is her guide.
